Trailhead Media Continues to Grow

Trailhead Media, the biggest out of home company you’ve never heard of, continues to grow.   Insider guesses Trailhead has more than 3,000 faces which makes it the 9th largest Bulletin/Poster company in the US.   Here’s what Insider knows.

Many Acquisitions

Trailhead just purchased Railroad Outdoor which had 250 faces in Georgia north of Atlanta and has a couple other transactions in the works. In the last year Trailhead bought the following assets:

  • Insite MediaCom – 1,271 faces in South Carolina and Georgia
  • Dusty’s Outdoor Media – 200 faces in Tennessee, Kentucky and Indiana.  Dusty’s kept 413 faces in Missouri and Illinois.
  • BPS – Georgia and South Carolina Assets
  • Spartan – one digital and some static boards in Spartanburg South Carolina
  • Cox Media – digital and static assets in Easley South Carolina
  • Railroad – 250 digital and static faces in Georgia
  • Wingate – certain Tennessee assets excluding Nashville
  • Leslie Outdoor – digital and static boards in Georgia

Low profile.

Trailhead avoids interviews and asks sellers and investment bankers not to talk.  The Trailhead Media website is a placeholder with little information.  Trailhead is backed by institutional investor Viking Capital.

Management

Robert Macmillan is CEO.  His resume has includes stints as a strategic advisor to Blip Billboards (2018-2020), Vice President of Landmark Dividends (2016-2020) and managing director of ROCAM Billboard Investments and BearOutdoor in the United Kingdom (2009-2020).  Prior to that time he was in investment banking.  He was educated in South Africa.  Elizabeth Jones is the company’s CFO.  Kerry Cox serves as general manager for the company’s South Carolina and Georgia assets.  John Murrow is Head of Operations and real estate.  The company has 10 employees on Linked in.
