OUTFRONT and Artsy Spotlight Asian American and Pacific Islander Artists

New York, NY — Artsy, the largest online marketplace for discovering, buying, and selling fine art by leading artists, is delighted to announce a new content series, “Already Home: AAPI Artists on Belonging.” The nationwide activation forms part of Artsy’s broader efforts this May in honor of Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month.

Launching the week of May 10th and running through June 7th, this public national series places an important spotlight on the Asian American and Pacific Islander community during AAPI Heritage Month. In addition to being displayed across New York City’s MTA transit system, the series will also be displayed throughout transit systems nationwide in cities including Santa Clara’s VTA and San Francisco’s Caltrain through OUTFRONT Media’s content and publishing platform, MOMENTS by OUTFRONT. Artsy is the official MOMENTS in Culture partner.

This MOMENTS in Culture activation will highlight artworks by four AAPI artists—Oscar Yi Hou, Hiroya Kurata, Mikey Yates, and Bin Fengthat celebrate the rich and complex history of Asians and Pacific Islanders in the United States, and explore what it means to belong. For example, Mikey Yates and Hiroya Kurata make use of intimacy in their work, investigating the internal, day-to-day experiences and psychology of being Asian American through contemplative portraits.

Commenting on this AAPI-focused activation, Dustyn Kim, Artsy’s Chief Revenue Officer, said: “Artsy has made diversity, inclusivity, and equity a top priority within the past 12 months, and we stand shoulder to shoulder with marginalized communities. With a deeply personal connection to the AAPI community, I’m extremely pleased and proud that Artsy is demonstrating our marketplace’s solidarity with the Asian and Pacific Islander communities based in the US—and across the globe—through this spotlight on AAPI artists. This powerful public activation wouldn’t be possible without our special partnership with OUTFRONT and through the impactful MOMENTS in Culture platform.”

Jason Kuperman, Chief Product Experience Officer at OUTFRONT, said: “This AAPI-focused MOMENTS in Culture collaboration with Artsy builds on our previous episodes intended to celebrate diverse cultures as a valuable part of the visual tapestry of our physical environments. OUTFRONT believes that supporting diversity is essential to our purpose of helping people, places and businesses grow stronger.”
