Midwest Billboards Wins Award

Insider noticed that Midwest Billboard was in the news for winning an award in their Wichita KS community.  We talked with Elizabeth Farha to learn more about the business and get the details on the award.

Elizabeth and Sam Farha
Elizabeth, can you share with us a little about Midwest Billboards?
Midwest Billboards is a one-stop-shop for advertisers to access an independent billboard network spanning across Kansas and Oklahoma with an inventory of 100+ digital and static/vinyl billboards. Midwest Billboards uses the same processes and standards of the corporate networks, helping both local businesses and national brands reach diverse audiences every day. We are proud to provide a wide variety of products and services through our partnerships with other independent billboard operators across the Midwest. Our team has more than 50+ years of experience in software engineering, out-of-home advertising and graphic design. WE LOVE OOH!
You were recognized by the Wichita Business Journal recently for an award?
We are very honored to be part of the Wichita Business Journal’s sixth annual Family Business Awards. This is our 14th award since I entered the OOH arena. I was born and raised in Wichita and now, my husband and I are raising my four year old son in the same zip code I grew up in. We joke that we are Mr. and Mrs. Wichita because we love to attend social events, be part of local charities, network with business owners and have a good time at some of our favorite local restaurants and bars. We always say that Wichita is a hidden gem and one of the best places in the country to raise a family and build a business!
What was the criteria the Journal used for the award?
Wichita Business Journal accepted nominations for the Family Business Awards. This is their sixth year for these awards and 23 businesses were chosen as honorees and asked to answer a set of profile questions:
  • What are the ties that make yours a family business?
  • What kind of traditions have been passed from generation to generation?
  • Tell us about the matriarch or patriarch of the business.
  • What did you learn from your predecessors that helps you today?
  • How has your company evolved since its founding?
  • Are non-family members a part of your leadership team?
  • How does your family business deal with the occasional and inevitable debates or disagreements that come up?
  • Are there more generations of family members likely to be a part of the business?

Additionally, we must submit a two minute video for use in the Wichita Business Journal’s Virtual Awards Event on June 1. They are asking that the video give a brief history of your company and how it has evolved over the years, introduction to the leadership team and make reference to clients or individuals that made an impact on been an integral part of our success.
