Keystone Outdoor Advertising Creates National Billboard Day

NATIONAL BILLBOARD DAY / JUN 1

National Billboard Day

When is National Billboard Day? This day will take place on June 1 of each calendar year.

What is National Billboard Day? This day is being created to celebrate and honor the earliest form of advertising there is! Billboards are unique and reach millions of commuters daily. We see them everywhere we go and take in their information even subconsciously. With such an interesting back story and long history, billboards deserve this day!

Why is this day being celebrated or observed? Billboards are more than just part of the landscape. They are the earliest form of advertising, dating back to ancient Egyptians, and with a story like that, billboards deserve a day of their own! Egyptians used to use large stones, in heavily trafficked areas to publish laws and treaties to the community. While billboards have developed over time, their purpose is the same: to spread awareness about companies, products, public service announcements, and nonprofit organizations.

How should this day be celebrated or observed? On #NationalBillboardDay, industry professionals as well as businesses and companies who use billboard advertising will share how billboards have helped their business or helped spread their public service announcement. Whether it be a ‘mask up’ message or an anti-human trafficking message, billboards are powerful and on this day, we will share this!

Who created this day? This day was created in May 2021 by Keystone Outdoor Advertising.

Insider’s Note: Maybe not a National Holiday, but it is pretty cool that Keystone did this through the National Day Archives.
