Daily Billboard Blog’s 3 of a Kind: Food Delivery

With many restaurants closed for dining during the pandemic, food delivery apps became even more important to helping eateries reach their customers. Here are three approaches to advertising takeout delivery filling the skies of L.A. in recent years as the popularity of these apps have grown.
First up is a recent billboard for the Postmates app, who knows that when your hangry only your favorite food will satisfy your cravings. This burger-themed ad creative with its clever play on words was snapped along West Hollywood’s Sunset Strip in February 2020 and the rest of the outdoor ad campaign features other executions where burgers are replaced by sushi or pizza, salad or noodles, and more.
The second example is for Mexican food restaurant chain Chipotle who were advertising their own food delivery app with the help of this giant billboard shaped like a paper takeout bag with 3D handles at the top. Atomic Props & Effects helped create the giant paper handles for this spectacular installation on the side of the 1 Hotel along the Sunset Strip in October 2019.
The third super-sized billboard is for food ordering and delivery platform Uber Eats (which funnily enough also own Postmates) and employs the familiar faces and humor of Patrick Stewart and Mark Hamill from their accompanying TV commercial to help tempt passersby. This giant billboard featuring the actors and offering the best food delivery service was photographed at Sunset Strip’s 1 Hotel in February 2021.
As you can see that’s three very different approaches to the service who also compete with the likes of DoorDash and GrubHub.
