Birdhouse Outdoor operates a billboard plant in Scranton, Pennsylvania.  Ryan Adcroft is one of the firm’s managing partners.  Here are some excerpts from last year’s interview.

Ryan, how did you get into the out of home advertising business?

For the past decade, I have co-owned Tribal Media, which is a full-service digital marketing agency, with my wife Krysty. I’ve always had an interest in the OOH industry and knew that our existing client relationships at our agency would benefit us if we decided to get into the space. A few years ago, I began to recognize the opportunity in large format wallscapes in my market and in 2018, we launched Birdhouse Outdoor and began acquiring our first few signs. After about a year and a half we now have leases for over 50 walls in the market. Our inventory consists of wallscapes in high profile outdoor locations to frequently trafficked areas in parking garages of malls and large complexes in our downtown areas.

Birdhouse is a catchy name and you’ve got a great logo. Where’d they come from?

All of our branding was created by our digital marketing agency. However the concept behind our name is pretty simple. The most important consideration when installing a birdhouse (or one of our signs) is its location! Also, birdhouses should be eye catching and make your neighbor (or competitor) feel envious. And we feel like our signs do just that for our advertisers.

Tell us about your plant.

Birdhouse specializes in large format premium wallscape signage. Focusing our efforts so acutely has allowed us to scale at considerable speed during our start-up phase. It’s in our long term plan to scale to other applications, however our focus has allowed us to really refine our processes, our products, and type of installations we use on our walls over the last year and a half.
