Ad-Trend owns a static billboard plant with 200 faces in the Kansas City metro.  Ad-Trend was founded in 1983 by Jim Boeh and is the largest locally-owned OOH company in Kansas City.  Most of the plant is static 14×48′ bulletins along the major highways in the metro.  The company is an operator associate in the IBOUSA.  Insider talked with David English, the company’s Vice President of Sales

You recently acquired an iconic billboard.

We purchased the colossal “Commerce Bank Sign” on I-70, just West of Arrowhead and Royals Stadiums.  This mammoth structure is a whopping 15 x 60 feet and  is expandable (with cutouts) to an incredible 20 x 60 ft. Spectacular Bulletin,  almost twice the size of a standard 14 x 48 Bulletin. This stretch of I-70  has one of the highest traffic counts in the entire Metro.  Dwarfing all other Billboards in the area, this Tower Structure is second only in KC size to Ad Trend’s other gigantic 32 x 48 structure at I-49 & 150 Hwy, which is the largest Billboard in the KC metro market.

What are some of your other growth initiatives

Between acquisitions and new builds Ad Trend has added 22 quality metro faces.

  • We built a 14 x 48 Digital on I-35 near Liberty MO.   We were very fortunate to find a small needle in the haystack of Kansas City area zoning.  (see ride sheet below)
  • We secured  new leases to build 6 faces in Southern Johnson County Kansas, the most desired demographic in the KCMO SMSA.
  • We acquired another 14 x 48 Bulletin on the Kansas side of the Metro.
  • We secured new permits for 2 Interstate locations in a KC Metro Suburb.

Will you be converting more static billboards to digital?

Absolutely.  We have boards earmarked and we would love to start making those updates soon.  Since diving into the digital billboard world, we have been blown away.  We couldn’t be happier with our digital on I-35 and hope to add more locations soon.
